Gelatin Microspheres for the Controlled Release of All-trans-Retinoic Acid Topical Formulation and Drug Delivery Evaluation
Authors
Abstract:
A topical o/w cream containing tretinoin microspheres was prepared. Gelatin microspheres of tretinoin were prepared using coacervation method. These microspheres contained about 50% w/w tretinoin. The particle size range of microspheres was between 90-150 m m. In vitro drug release from microspheres and a cream formulation was studied. It was shown that drug release from microspheres followed Higuchi kinetics of release. However, drug release from the cream formulation followed zero order release profile.

full textTemperature-Induced Release of All-trans-Retinoic Acid Loaded in Solid Lipid Nanoparticles for Topical Delivery
The aim of this work was to develop and evaluate solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) containing all-transretinoic acid (ATRA) for topical delivery. SLN composed of coconut oil and curdlan improved the suspension instability of ATRA in aqueous solution. The photodegradation of ATRA by light was reduced by incorporation in SLN. The loading efficiency of ATRA in SLN was higher than 95% (w/w). The amou...
full textFormulation, Evaluation and Optimization of Controlled Release Hydrogel Microspheres for Colon Targeted Drug Delivery
The purpose of this research was to established new polysaccharide for the colon targeted drug delivery system, its formulation and in vitro and in vivo evaluation. Microspheres containing chitosan and bora rice were prepared by simple emulsification phase separation technique using glutaraldehyde as cross linking agent and model drug used was glipizide. Results of trial batches indicated that ...

Low-dose topical delivery of all-trans retinoic acid for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia II and III.
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to determine an effective dose for all-trans retinoic acid (atRA) delivered with a cervical cap and sponge for 4 days to women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) II/III. METHODS Study participants made up of 175 women with biopsy-proven CIN II/III were randomized to four consecutive days of atRA at one of three doses (0.16%, 0.28%, and 0.36...
